Costas Troulos is a Business Consultant and Research Associate at the Network Management and Optimal Design Laboratory – NETMODE of National Technical University of Athens, Greece.

He first came in close and intimate contact with personal computing at the age of 9, when his father gave him an ATARI 600XL for his birthday. After the monumental happiness for his present, he soon realized that the name (and this, not entirely!) was the only common thing between his gift and the widely spread game station, enjoyed by most of his friends. He spent much of his remaining childhood programming in BASIC. From time to time, he also loved copying from magazines amazing programs that mostly didn’t work.

He was lucky to start his career in IT & Telecom Industry in the early 90’s. It was the era, that the Information & Communications Technologies such as software, telephony, fixed and wireless networks, the Internet etc. started their unprecedented growth and revolutionized life and society forever.

Costas holds a 5 years degree (Msc equivalent) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and an MBA degree from the University of Louisville, KY, USA. He is currently pursuing a PhD degree in “Broadband Business Models” at the National Technical University of Athens.

  1. Hello, Costas:

I was reading your recent info and wanted to say hello. I am the CEO and owner of Broadband Properties Magazine — the magazine for Building the Fiber-Connected Community.

Perhaps there are ways we can work together.

Are you planning to attend the FTTH Conference in Nashville, Tenn., in September?

    all the best,

    Scott DeGarmo

    Hi Costas,
I live in UK for the last 35 years, and I have been working for the last 25 years in Satellite and Cable communications.
Right now I am working for VIRGIN MEDIA.
I am planning to come back to Greece soon to build fibre optics networks. (FTTH or FTTN). Could you please let me know if this is a good time? As far as I know Greece is so under develop in fibre than most of the EEC counties.

    John,

you can get information on recent developments in ftth governmental financing in my early September posts. Fiber access is something that is clearly missing from the Greek telecommunications market. If you can get financing and orchestrate a sound business model & plan you may want to consider coming south!
